Here at Meadowfrost Labradors, our goal is to find loving, responsible & committed families for each of our puppies. If you can honestly answer that this description fits you & your family, then please, read on so we can tell you more about the puppies we produce.

Our breeding stock has passed their eye CERFs annually from puppyhood through their breeding years. Passing the eye CERF (Canine Eye Registration Foundation) shows that the dogs are free of diseases of the eye & many heritable anomalies. They also have their hips & elbows Xrayed according to OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) guidelines.

Our breeding females have either Good or Excellent hips & all have Normal Elbows – they are totally free of dysplasia in hips & elbows. We will provide you with the evaluation results for eyes, hips & elbows for the parents of our litters. Being a member of the Harrisburg Kennel Club, we subscribe to the Harrisburg Kennel Club Code of Ethics, producing quality puppies from quality parents.

We take great care in the selection of mates for our dogs, in the attempt to adhere to the Labrador Retriever Breed Standard as prescribed by the American Kennel Club for all of the litters we produce. Likewise, we only select mates who meet our standards in health clearances making every effort to produce puppies who will enjoy good health into their adult lives.

Our puppies are whelped in our living room & spend 8 weeks with us learning about life in the home environment. They hear the sounds of our household (phone, doorbell, dishwasher, blow-dryer, alarm clock, television, etc.) along with the pitter-patter of many, many huggers who come through our door almost every day to socialize them. The puppies also learn how to interact with the other dogs in our home & how to deal with spending different parts of the day in different rooms in our home & what it means to explore the backyard or the back porch in the sunshine. Depending on the time of year, the puppies may also walk into a snow pile or fall into a puddle after rain shower. Living ½ block from the firehouse, the pups adjust to the sound of the fire trucks going out on a call & the “scary” noise a car makes as it passes our driveway.

We breed for good temperaments & sound health; the kind of dogs we would like to have sharing our home as they grow up. For that reason, we would like to meet you to be sure that we make the best choice of a puppy for you; we believe we know our puppies better than anyone else. We temperament test the entire litter at 7 weeks of age. The combination of the temperament testing results & our daily observations of the litter enables us to select the best match for you & your family.
